Rosh Hashana

We have had so much fun in school the past week discussing Rosh Hashana, The Jewish New Year. Morah brought a red apple and honey to circle time and we sang the song: ( to the tune: oh my darling...)
Dip the apple in the honey
Make a Bracha (blessing) loud and clear
Rosh Hashana time is here
Have a happy sweet new year!
Morah gave each of us one turn to dip our apple into the SWEET honey. YUM!! we loved it:)

Experiment : At circle time we spoke about the difference between sweet and sour foods. Morah Squeezed some lemon juice into a bunch of different bowls and those of us that were brave enough tasted some SOUR lemon juice. 

Shulie was our first brave friend to take a bowl of lemon juice and taste it

OUR CONCLUSION : Honey is sweet. Lemons are sour. Therefore we eat apples dipped in HONEY on Rosh Hashana. We want a SWEET new year full of health and happiness:)

 Morah brought a shofar in a bag and we had to try to guess what it was:) It was smooth, curvy, not straight and pretty small.  Then we took it out and all had a turn to hold the Shofar. We sang the song   ( to the tune of: The wheels on the bus...)

We also decorated Happy Rosh Hashana /New Year cards with crayons and stickers.

We painted apples RED

We had so much fun at our first music class last Friday! We sang songs with scarves, musical instruments and even had turns to play on the keyboard:)
