fire

We painted firemen RED and Morah Laminated them so we can hang them up on our refridgerators.

We discussed the number to call 911 when there's a fire and we need help to put it out.

We sang the song: (tune: three blind mice...)
911 911
Help is on the way, Help is on the way
If i need help, I know what to do
I must call the fireman and he'll help me too
911 911

We discussed how firemen use hoses to spray water on the fire. We experimented very carefully in our own classroom. When One friend called 911, The fireman came and sprayed water onto the fire. We thought it was so cool how the fire went right out.

Fire station trip

We had such a great time at the fire station. As mentioned in my email, aside from this trip being just a fun and exciting trip, it is also a crucial time for us to make sure children feel comfortable around firemen and understand that they are our  friends and can help us.

Elan giving "high five" to the fireman

Liam giving "high five" to the fireman

Then the fireman showed us his gear. He out on his pants, jacket , and helmet.

Jake had a turn to wear the fire helmet.

Liam had a turn to wear the fire helmet.

Elan had a turn to wear the fire helmet.

Benny had a turn to wear the fire helmet.

Shulie had a turn to wear the fire helmet.

Then each of us that were brave enough had a turn to go into a firetruck and see what the inside looks like!

The firemen put the sirens on so we could see the flashing lights.

We saw a fireman come down the pole. When Firemen need to rush to put out a fire this is the fastest way to get from upstairs down to the firetruck.

Then the fireman took a fire hydrant and showed us how it squirts out water. Some of us were brave enough to have a turn to squirt the water out ourselves.

"OUR COMMUNITY"

We have begun a unit on OUR COMMUNITY, discussing community members and people that help us in our neighborhood. We spoke about who helps us at home: Mama and Papa , and sometimes Grandma, and Grandpa.;)
We spoke about who helps us at school: Our Morah's, Miss Isabel ( brings us our lunch and cleans our rooms)etc
We were privileged to have Mr Gena, the school handyman come and visit us. When things break in our school. Mr Gena helps to fix them. Mr Gena also hung up beautiful new blinds in our classroom so we can make our classroom a little darker during nap time. Mr Gena showed us the tools that he uses to fix things! He also showed us how he uses his drill to drill a nail that will hold two pieces of wood together.

YELLOW

We have been exploring the color yellow over the past two weeks. We collected yellow objects from all around our classroom.

We made yellow collages with all different yellow art materials.

We painted with yellow paint on our easel!

We also used yellow paint to paint on regular paper by the table.

We reviewed the three colors that we've learned so far.
Each of us had a chance to chose one peg from Morah's box and put in onto the corresponding color circle.
