Sharing and "turn taking"

We have been putting a big emphasis on 'sharing' in our classroom. Being that the word "sharing" is a little broad and  not so practical to understand for our friends, we chose to use the phrase "turn taking".
e.g. You are having a turn now with the toy, and next it'll be MY turn.We have been teaching the children to ask each other, "Please can I have ...?" or "Please have?" The other child then answers, "yes" and shares the toy, OR says "soon." Then either with Morah's help and a timer, the child waits for a turn or they play with something else while waiting for a turn.
We read a special book in our classroom about 'taking turns'.

We will be sending home a copy of this book this Friday . We would love for you to use the same language and strategies at home.

We have two puppet friends in our classroom that demonstrate how to take turns. Leah and Levi are two friendly puppets  that sometimes need our help with giving them the right words to say when they want  a toy ball, monkey etc from the other.
